Leelanau Cellars Summer Sunset

Description on the bottle:  Like all blush wines, Summer Sunset is versatile enough to serve with all of your favorite foods, especially with fresh fruits.  Summer Sunset is semi-dry, fruity and is very refreshing served ice cold.  Northern Michigan enjoys four distinctly beautiful seasons, and it is in celebration of these seasons that Leelanau Wine Cellars offers our specially blended premium wines, as unique as the season it represents.  The label of each wine is designed to capture the feeling of the season, while the wine itself emphasizes the fruitiness of the grape.  It is properly balanced and is complementary to most foods served in your favorite restaurant or prepared at home.

Sarah says:  I'm working my way through the four seasons of this wine.  I blog about the winter here.  It seems appropriate that I didn't enjoy the winter as much as the summer, I dislike the winter months!  I really enjoyed this summer wine.  This semi-sweet wine wasn't too sweet, and was the perfect ending to a semi-summer day (since it's still only in the 70's even though it's mid-June!).  It was cool and fruity, an easy drink as I sat on the porch and watched the sun slowly go down, while the parents urged the kids in the area to get ready for their last week of school.  Next weekend they can all stay out later.

jon says: i found this wine to be very drinkable. if this wine was water, not only would i be drinking more water but some people might think i would have a drinking problem... because it is delicious... get it?

Sarah says:   Welcome back Jon.  Really, that's your first comment after months of silence?  Anyways... As summer is almost upon us, I'm looking forward to two very distinctly different occasions this summer.  First of all, we're going to Disney World.  A trip that I know my kids are going to LOVE.  A trip that has required us to save our pennies.  A trip that has required hours of planning.  A trip that we booked MONTHS ago.  A trip that is going to be fun... and exhausting.  Like, super exhausting.  So exhausting that I'm dreading it a little bit.  We've planned this trip 100% for our kids enjoyment.  But that exhaustion will be worth it, because of the memories.  Mary is going to meet her favorite princesses, and Liam will be meeting Buzz and Woody, what could be better?!

I'll tell you what could be better - a trip that we make a whole different type of memories.  We've been given the opportunity to spend a weekend up north in a cabin.  This trip is last minute.  This trip we won't have computers and tablets, TV and video games.  This trip won't have life size characters and rides to entertain our kids.  We'll be spending time on the beach, talking, walking, playing...with just us four.  Our entertainment will be each other, and I can't wait for it.  We'll watch the summer sunset, without the sound of traffic and cell phones in the background.

jon says: omg! these both sound like a nightmare. i think we should really rethink these trips. jk. lol.

Sarah says:  Summer is the perfect time to make memories, busy ones and relaxing ones.  Mine usually involve a glass of wine.  What are you looking forward to this summer?
